Welcome to Dr. J. David Frost's homepage

Dr. Frost is currently Professor of Geosystems Engineering in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at GeorgiaTech. He is also the Director of Georgia Tech Regional Engineering Program (GTREP).
Dr. Frost obtained B.A.I. in Civil Engineering and a B.A. in Mathematics from Trinity College in Dublin in 1980. After working for four years in Canada, he went to Purdue University and obtained M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 1986 and 1989, respectively. He served on the faculty at Purdue for three years before moving to Georgia Tech in 1992.

Dr. Frost's research interests include engineering the behavior of soils under static and dynamic loading; digital image processing and analysis in geosystems engineering; and spatial information systems for subsurface hazard assessment.
       Dr. Frost is affiliated to
the Geomaterial Surface and Structure Characterization Laboratory (GSSCL). Research conducted at GSSCL by members of the Geotechnical Spatial and Image Analysis Group uses computer based imaging and information systems to develop custom algorithms and procedures for quantification of spatial characteristics and behavior of geomaterials at both micro and macro scales.
